The words you learn are your weapons.
Tap any word. The colours are the tones, and that is how every HanQuest app shows Chinese.
What HanQuest is
A small family of Mandarin tools built on one conviction: you learn a language by doing something with it you actually want to do.
So the vocabulary is the combat system. The story is the reading practice. The dictionary is what you reach for mid-fight.
Every word is the same word everywhere. The game, the reader, the course and the dictionary share one knowledge contract, so a character you met in a story is already known when it turns up in a quest, and writing practice grades the strokes you actually got wrong.
Nothing on screen is a mock-up. Segmentation, pinyin, tone colour, stroke order and voice all come from the same corpus the apps ship with, and all of it works offline.
The colours above are not decoration. Every 汉字 is tinted by its tone, first through fourth and neutral, in the game and the reader and the dictionary alike. You stop reading the tone marks and start seeing them.
明镜行 The Bright Mirror
A top-down RPG in four acts, each set in a different era. You fight by reading, listening, writing and speaking: the words you have learned are what you can cast.
